New Number Configuration
Configures a set of MSISDNs with various parameters to provision later.
Bulk MSISDN Number Provisioning
Associates a range of MSISDNs with a contiguous range of SIMs and provisions these through the provisioning system.
Number Recycling
Deletion of the recycled numbers on the IN and HLR and VMS.
Re-provision Numbers

Returns – Damaged Stock
Items can be returned and flagged when they are faulty.

FNN / MSN Life cycle

Billing solution provides a service lifecycle model and the management of subscriptions (MSISDNs) within that life cycle the following lifecycle states used in the solution and a MSISDN will always be in one of these states:

  • Available – A number in the inventory begins in available status, ready for regular number selection process to find and provision.
  • Pre-Active / Assigned – The subscription state where the number is selected and provisioned through provisioning system but is not yet “Active”
  • Active – Upon provisioning completion, the number moves to Active status. The number remains in this status until the customer no longer needs it. Switch will allow subscribers to originate events (voice calls, send SMS-MO, MMS, receive SMS-MT etc) in this state (assuming sufficient balance etc to rate the event).
  • Inactive – The subscription state when the account balance is less than or equal to zero (due to subscriber or customer care activity) but neither the Active nor Life time timers have expired. The subscriber can only originate calls to the IVR. For example the subscriber has not used all of their active time since the last recharge (e.g. still 20 days left) but they have zero balance.
  • Deactive – The subscription state when the Active timer but not the Lifetime timer has expired. The subscriber can only originate calls to the IVR. For example, the subscriber has used all of their active time (e.g. more than 186 days). Once the subscriber performs a recharge they will move back to the Active state and the active time will start again.
  • Expired – The subscription state when the Lifetime timer has expired. Subscribers will exist indefinitely in this state on the network switch until a request is received from the customer service request to erase the subscriber or Reactivate the account (which will change the state from “disconnected” to “Deactive”). For example, more than 1272 days have passed since the subscriber’s last successful recharge.
  • Unavailable – A number that has been given to another service provider or is otherwise not available for selection has the status of unavailable.

NMS
FNN – MSN Life cycle

Lifecycle of prepaid SIM

  • Prepaid packaged SIMs can be assembled with a dummy MSN or real MSN at the time of loading to Number management system. An assembly is created when SIM and MSN is paired
  • At registration when the SIM is activated, the relationship between an active SIM and its associated real MSN is maintained in Number management system.
  • The assembly meets the requirement to couple the MSN and SIM packaged in prepaid packs until either cancellation by a customer or shelf life expiry occurs. There are 2 processes, dependent on the initial pairing of a dummy or real MSN for bulk activation.
  • On cancellation of service, the SIM remains in Aging status for 180 days before the same is moved to Unavailable status
  • Life cycle of postpaid SIM is similar to that of prepaid SIM
  • Unlike prepaid SIMs, postpaid SIMs need not be bulk activated in the networks
  • On cancellation of service, the SIM remains in Aging status for 180 days before the same is moved to Unavailable status
