Check if you have Google Assistant on your phone

If your phone is running Android 7 (Nougat) or any newer version, chances are you already have Google Assistant on your device. Users with an older version (such as 5.0 Lollipop) can download and install the free Google Assistant app from the Play Store .

You will also need to make sure that the Google search application has at least version 6.13 and the Play Store application is updated to the latest version. To verify this, open Google Play, then touch the three lines in the upper left corner, and tap My apps & games , and the screen that opens will see if there are any updates available.

Once you’ve verified this, and all is well, open the Google Assistant app. On devices running an Android version (Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL,Pixel 4 or One), you can press and hold the Home button to activate the application.

If this does not work, you may need to enable the service, from the Google application, to do this, touch the three lines (Menu), and select Settings , then in the Google Assistant section, touch Settings again and select Turn on .

You should be asked to say ” Ok Google ” and ” Hey Google ” a few times . When you’re done, you need to say ” OK Google ” to open the app.
